Peters Township Youth Field Hockey
The Peters Township Youth Field Hockey Club started in 2011 as a feeder program for the Peters Township High School team that began in 2005. The PTYFHC had both a developmental and middle school division at that time. The Peters Township School District added Field Hockey as a school-sponsored Middle School sport in 2018 so the PTYFHC now supports the development of 1st to 6th graders.
There are only four WPIAL schools that have a youth field hockey program. We will play the three other teams both home and away on Sundays. These teams include Mt. Lebanon, Pine-Richland, and Mars.
Practices will be held afterschool on Thursdays at McMurray Elementary from 3:45 to 5:15. Practices and Games will be held on Sundays after Labor Day at Pleasant Valley turf field from 2 - 4 pm or away at designated times set by opponent.
For games and practices youth players need a field hockey stick, mouthguard, shinguards, socks over the shin guards (red), goggles, and water bottle. Players should wear athletic clothing and cleats. The youth girls will receive a reversible PTFH pinny to wear for games. In the past, girls have worn uniforms shared with youth girls lacrosse which is fine too.
The PTYFHC wants your daughter(s) to learn the basic fundamental skills and rules of the game of field hockey and have fun while doing so.
